A Ceremony Rooted in Tradition and Innovation
The event was presided over by the Snr Mark Aggrey , who served as Chairman for the occasion, with Mc Ahmed Raza directing proceedings as Master of Ceremonies. Students and guests were seated ahead of time, and the ceremony began promptly at 10:00 a.m. with the call to order.
Following an opening prayer led by the School Chaplain, Snr Mark Aggrey delivered the welcome address, setting the tone for a morning dedicated to celebrating science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education at the school.
Charting the Mission Behind the Clubs
A central highlight of the programme was the presentation on the mission and goals of the three clubs, delivered by George Arthur (Santa ’83), Patron and Representative of the STEM Committee. His address offered students and guests insight into the vision driving the initiative and how it fits into the school’s broader academic development goals.
Two-Tier Membership and Dedicated Patronage
Each club’s two-tier membership structure was explained by the respective club patrons:
- Mathematics Club — Seth Kpo, Solomon Owusu and Joseph Forson
- Aviation & Drones Club — Seth Agbesi and Prince Boateng
- Engineering Club — Ahmed Seidu Yakubu and Everistus Ametefe
The structure is designed to accommodate students at different levels of interest and experience, ensuring that both newcomers and more advanced enthusiasts find a place within each club. This was followed by a session on club discipline and code of conduct, reinforcing the standards of commitment expected of members.
Drones Take Centre Stage
The most anticipated segment of the launch was the presentation by drone experts, led by Santa Harry Wryter. This was followed by closing remarks from the Head Boy of the school and a closing prayer, after which the programme moved outdoors to the Santa City grounds for a live drone demonstration and interactive session. Guests were guided to the demonstration area by the patrons of the Aviation & Drones Club, giving students a hands-on, up-close look at the technology that will anchor the new club’s activities.
